Dexcom G7 is a real-time continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system that provides glucose readings automatically throughout the day and night. Readings are displayed on a compatible smartphone, smartwatch, or Dexcom receiver.
The system features a low-profile, all-in-one sensor and transmitter design with a 30-minute warm-up period and a 10-day lifespan. It includes predictive alerts, including an Urgent Low Soon alert up to 20 minutes before glucose levels go low, as well as customisable high and low alerts.
The Dexcom G7 sensor is water-resistant and may be submerged under up to 2.4 metres of water for up to 24 hours when properly installed. Approved wear locations include the back of the arm and abdomen, and for children aged 2–6 years, the upper buttocks.
Glucose data can be shared with up to 25 followers using the Dexcom Follow app. Display devices are sold separately.
If glucose alerts and readings do not match symptoms or expectations, a blood glucose meter should be used to make diabetes treatment decisions.
The Dexcom G7 is a real-time continuous glucose monitoring system designed to provide ongoing glucose readings to support diabetes management.
- For individuals requiring additional support with diabetes management
- Suitable for children and individuals who are hypo unaware
- For users who do not require insulin pump connectivity
- If glucose alerts and readings do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.

- Internet connectivity required for data sharing.
- Followers should confirm readings on the Dexcom G7 app or receiver before making treatment decisions.
- Sensor and transmitter are water-resistant when properly installed.
Please note this important CGM insight: Because ALL continuous glucose monitoring sensors lag capillary blood glucose readings by about 10 minutes, you must still perform a finger-prick test whenever you have a rapidly changing glucose (whether rising or falling), or whenever the displayed glucose value does not fit symptoms you may be experiencing.
